Dozier, still undergoing therapy to repair legs shattered by shrapnel, posted a story about her recovery, "Emerging from a Nightmare," on the CBS News Web site.

"The U.S. military treated me as one of its own, saving my life a few times over, with the best people, the best training and the best equipment," Dozier wrote. "I was blessed time and again on my particular journey, with daily encounters with extraordinary people who helped put my body, and in some instances, my spirit, back together again."

She said she watches video of bombing victims on the news, many with injuries just like hers, and knows they won't survive the night in an Iraqi hospital.

Those treating her repaired her legs, "moved skin around my body like a jigsaw puzzle to cover burns the bomb left behind; and taught me to walk again, all the while propping up my spirits in between."

Dozier said she has been undergoing therapy while staying with her family in New Zealand the past few months.

"I spend 6-8 hours a week in the gym or at home with weights and a yoga mat, mostly doing things like trying to get my knees to bend," she wrote.

The car bomb that hurt her killed her camera crew, Britons Paul Douglas and James Brolan; a U.S. soldier and an Iraqi translator.

She recalled her former colleagues and wished their families comfort.

"The thing I intend to salvage out of this nightmare: the story of those who helped me, through their work or their letters or just their prayers, to pull through," she wrote. "Many of them continue to fight on, for every injured body and soul that crosses their path."

Should I?

Should I dye my hair black?

"Well, I'm back."

Ya... The night train was sweet. Atleast, compared to the day train it was. I was in a room with 2 Dutch people and 1 Thai man... I ate tons of junk food and stuff... I hope I can sleep. I forsee much bordem... but oh well. I just got warned that in about 15 mins I need to get off for the guy to come service the computers... So... 15 mins...

We went to the famous Chiang Mai night market a couple times this past week, one of the times I bought a pink (LIGHT pink, not hot pink) Polo shirt, and a black Redbull shirt. The market here is actually a good bit cheaper.

It was pretty funny... I asked how much (in thai) for the shirts, and the first thing they say is 380 baht... lol... I asked for 150 and they said yes... Lol, trying to pull the farang price on me. HA. Then as I was walking by a place that sold the same shirt, I saw some tourists paying full price... and then they were like "whoa, it's so cheap!"...

The swimming pool here at the Juniper Tree is really sweet, not super large, but it's got a big slope from about 3 ft to about 7.5 ft... Lotsa fun to play in.

I haven't taken to many pictures during our time so far, but I'll try to take a few before we leave.

My grandma is coming here in less than 2 weeks, and then on christmas day, we will fly out to Phuket for like 5 days...

I'm starting to miss Bangkok a lil bit... just a lil bit... ok bad song... anyhow, I'm looking forward to Pulse on .

Wednesday night... I'm gonna get Kin to wear blue jeans and pink polo shirt and the shoes we both have... it'll be fun. Ok, 15 mins is nearly up. ttyl ppls.

David

A freaking long train ride

Yeah... I offically don't like the Hua Lampong train station. Offically. A reason? Well, aside from getting there at 7:00 AM just to find out the train is delayed till 10:00 AM... Then the 12 hour train ride itself... EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK.

Well... At least we made it. We got into our place last night at about 11:30 PM, and everyone was in a bad mood... And we went to bed... Without the air conditioning on... and woke up freezing anyways, because northern Thailand gets it's coolest at this time of the year... the "cold" season... cold being about 60 F, but when your body is somewhat acclimated to 90 F, it's pretty cold.

I was thinking when we were on the train... The amount of time it took to get here using the train, we could have flown from Tokyo, Japan... All the way to Chicago, Illinois. 12 hours on one type of transporting is always rough, unless you're traveling with a group of friends... Like, the train ride wouldn't be nearly so long feeling if I had had some people to talk to (aside from my stressed out family), because then your distracted and stuff... It sucks... I'd like to watch movies on my iPod, but the battery drops like a rock, and I'm not sure where our extra battery pack is, or if it would even work with my new iPod... Then the laptop that we brought needs a new lithium-ion battery soon, because it only carries a charge of about an hour and thirty minutes.

Man. I wish I had looked what the books I brought were about... I just grabbed them from the library because I'd heard of them... Dragon Ride, by Cornelia Funke, and Inkheart by the same author... Dragon Rider is written for about a 11 year old, and Inkheart isn't far ahead. I had gotten the third book in the Bartimeus Trilogy (HIGHLY recommended), and the third book in the Artemis Fowl series (also recommended) on Friday, and I finished the Bartimeus book by sunday night, and the Artemis Fowl book's are really easy to read... Took only about 2 hrs on the train.

Lol, one of the things I did for about 2 hrs is draw little cities with fighting stickmen, all in some sort of dramatic shooting (sometimes dying) pose. Then I made those flip-movie type things, one with a bullet being fired from a stickman at another, the last pose being the victim sprawled out on the lop-sided floor with pink stuff around his head... .

Well, the camp/guest house/hotel we're staying at is really nice, the name is "The Juniper Tree", and it reminds me so much of Camp DuNord in northern Minnesota... From the wooden cabin things to jus the layout of the place. It'd be awesome to bring a bunch of people here for like, a retreat thing.

Ergh... me and Sarah we're bored earlier, so we hopped on the bikes they have for rent here, and boy was that a bad idea. My tire was practically flat, and the the bike must be 30 years old. I wish I knew how to drive a motorcycle, because they have two new 125cc bikes for about $3.25 a day (150 baht), but alas, I am hopelessly inept with motorcycles. Aside from riding on the back of them nearly everyday, I'm still pretty clueless as to how to drive them. .

The music I'm listening to is pretty sweet... Pirates of the Carribean: DMC soundtrack is pretty cool.

I've been really enjoying the new Skillet CD, most of the songs are realllly cool, but these 5 that really stick out to me for some weird reason: Rebirthing, Comatose, Whispers in the Dark, The Last Night and Falling Inside the Black. I suggest you listen to them.

My mom's so funny. She's not very skilled in the use of iPods, so she's constantly coming home convinced there's something wrong with her iPod, when it's just something like lock is on or it needs to be restarted or is out of battery .

Lol, I felt like singing the Lostprophets song yesterday, Last Train Home, when had been on the train for about 8 hours... even though it was sorta the first train to Chiang Mai... which isn't home... but oh well. It had the word 'train' in it. So. Pfft. I'm shutting up now.

Oh yisssss... One of the reasons we're here (well, one of two) is to see the Tebows, who lived right next door to the Crosses... They're leaving for America in about 2 weeks, so we're sending some gifts and stuff home... I'm going to try and get to the night market and buy some stuff here... Sorry boyos, no swords... They can't really take those back very easily... Maybe I'll get some touristy shirts for ppl... we shall see what my allowance says.

Well... it's 20 baht ($0.50) baht an hour to use the wireless internet here, so, I need to wrap this up.

What a disjointed post... ...

"Rebirthing now..." -and other bits and bytes.

My parents are SO stressed out right... They have this huge Thai langauge test, the 6th grade test, and the anxiety that the anticipation for this test produces... goes down the food chain. Everyone is like a balloon... a balloon on the brink of popping... a balloon that pops at the smallest touch with nasty effects, but then re-inflates a few hours later... to the same level of vulnerability.

Moving on...

So... What else is goin on... Well, it's pretty depressing around here... This will be our second holiday season in Thailand... It just doesn't feel like Christmas... Sure, a few fake trees up here and there... But it doesn't come close to the way Minnesota dresses up for this beautiful holiday. The other depressing thing here is that we don't have any Christmassy things up either... We are leaving for Chiang Mai on the 4th, and then someone is going to repaint our apartment, for when my grandma comes... anyways, any decorations would be in the way of the painting .

Speaking of Chiang Mai, we'll be gone from the fourth till the 11th. We went to the library yesterday, because the train ride up to Chiang Mai takes about 12 hours... AHHHH!!! *franticly super charges iPod, steals Andrew's PSP, grabs tons of books and looks scared* Er... Uhhh... I can't wait for when we get there though, because we will get to go see some people from our church in Minneapolis, the Tebows... And Chiang Mai just sounds nice in the cold *ish* season . Not to mention it will mean our parents are done with the test... thus hopefully being less stressed. .

Ok, never, I repeat in capitals... NEVER drink the Redbull version of ice coffee ... First off, it tastes disgusting, and second, my leg appears to have a mind of it's own... like... It's bouncing and stuff... I just feel like... bouncing... and listening to Reliant K... Oh wait... I'm doing both of those... How strange... "I watch the proverbial sunrise coming up over the pacific end..." etc... .

Well, I should probably try and complete some schoolwork today... Even though I wont need to turn it in, since my class is on the same day we leave... except it starts at 1:30 PM and I leave at like, 7:00 AM .

This is the coolest song I'e heard in a long time...

"I lie here paralytic
Inside this soul
Screaming for you till my throat is numb
I wanna break out
I need a way out
I don’t believe that it’s gotta be this way
The worst is the waiting
In this womb I’m suffocating

Feel your presence filling up my lungs with oxygen
I take you in
I’ve died
Rebirthing now
I wanna live for love wanna live for you and me
Breathe for the first time now
I come alive somehow
Rebirthing now
I Wanna live my life wanna give you everything
Breathe for the first time now
I come alive somehow..."

*Edit* Here's a link to the song, just right click and select the option titled "Save Target As..."

http://www.fileden.com/files/2006/6/30/99440/Skillet%20-%20Rebirthing.mp3

.
